I'm not going to speculate on why some players were retained while some others were not. This is just how it works when new coaching regimes come in- Coach Lundy knows how best he can use every resource available to him and there are only so many minutes to go around.
I'm surprised by some of the departures and wish the best to all now-former Panthers who are in the transfer portal. And that includes PBJ- his time at Milwaukee was brief, but he still has all the tools and is a smart kid- he just needs to get drafted and stay healthy and work his way up to the big show. Or maybe play at the college level for another year? Can we put Northwestern on our non-con schedule? :)
In any case, the positive news is that the new staff has quietly been rebuilding the roster. 6'5" Missouri sharpshooter Zach Howland committed a couple weeks ago and in recent days 3 more new Panthers have committed:
The Panthers also came very close to landing elite Juco PG Themus Fulks who ultimately committed to Louisiana-Lafayette. We will have to keep looking for a good PG with handles and X-Men-like court vision as it has ever been one of the most important ingredients of our past successes (Chris Hill, Kaylon Williams, Jordan Aaron..).
Let's hope that the team being assembled will be well-equipped to win a lot of games in the Horizon later this year in the Winter and well into the Spring of 2023.
